A Little Oasis on Wealthy St.

Thai Table is a little oasis on Wealthy St. The decor is fresh and fun, with a giant wall of tropical (faux) greenery, Thai accents and green/blue hues, and caring details like the colorful bins they will bring to your table so you don’t have to place your purse/bag on the floor.

Every dish we’ve had there has been exceptional, full of vibrant, authentic Thai flavors. Many of the dishes are, or can be made, Vegan. (The dishes with a “V” next to the name does NOT necessarily mean they are Vegan—some contain Egg—but can be made Vegan if you specify it.) They will also ask you for your desired level of heat. We enjoy very spicy food, but we find that medium is adequate so the delicate flavors are not obliterated by heat. There is also a tray of Thai spices to add more heat if desired.

Some standout dishes for us: The Tom Yum Fried Rice (delightfully aromatic), Pineapple Curry (great fusion of savory and sweet), Larb Tofu (complex, fragrant mix of flavors). But every dish we’ve tried has been delicious.

If we had questions about any of the dishes, the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. And even though the place can get busy (especially with the many takeout orders that were picked up during the time we were there), we never felt rushed and were able to engage in delightful conversation with the staff and owners.

How fortunate we are that the owners Mimi and Eak specifically immigrated from Thailand to Grand Rapids to open Thai Table! If you’d like to know more about their journey to open Thai Table, watch this behind-the-scenes video about the care and hard work that goes into creating the beautiful dishes that they serve: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uvv0-N1lWXQ&t=4s

Pros: Authentic Thai Cuisine, Many Vegan Options, Friendly, Helpful Staff

Cons: "V” on the menu does not necessarily mean Vegan..., ...so you must specify no animal products.

SO GOOD

Y’all, it’s really good. I had the veggie gyoza & yellow curry (both specified vegan) and I’m already excited to eat my leftovers. They were super welcoming too, and gave me a sample of their lemon tea which was also delicious. Try it oooouuuuutttt.

Pros: The FOOD, Welcoming atmosphere , Spice level matched expectations

Amazing Thai Food with a Hiccup

Thai Table is a welcome addition to EastTown area of GR. Having previously been a Thai restaurant within the same building, Thai Table improves in every way from its predecessor.

A recently added eatery, Thai Table has been crafted with love from an owner couple who are not only new to the restaurant business they are new to the country. In a landscape of Thai restaurants run by non-Thai people, the difference is stalk to taste what the possibilities are for Thai from the knowledge of a person’s homeland.

This is the best Thai food in GR. It is the best Thai food I have ever had in my life. It really is that exceptional. The tofu is prepared in a way that wrinkles the skin to provide as much surface area to soak up the curry and to give a chewy mouthfeel the entire bite through. The green curry is exquisite and an easy recommendation.

My biggest qualm with the restaurant is one made with an honest heart. The menu, at first glance, looks like a vegan’s dream. All vegan items are clearly marked and the majority of the choices are vegan. However, after a more in-depth look, there is a realization that either the “Vegan” denominator actually mean “Vegan option upon request” or that the owners consider eggs vegan. There are many options that are marked as vegan yet list eggs in the ingredients.

After ordering our vegan drunken noodles, we were surprised to see bits of egg in it. There is no mention that these are an egg substitute, so we assumed the eggs were real.

It comes from a good place, I believe. I just think this is a point of improvement — either remove the eggs from vegan dishes, or denote in the menu “vegan option upon request.” If these were changed I would happily adjust my rating to 4 stars.

I still would go out of my way to praise Thai Table to friends, just with an added disclaimer to clarify every “vegan” dish when you order.

Pros: Incredible tasting food, Wants to incorporate vegan options, Friendly service

Cons: Items listed as vegan that are not, Bright lights inside restaurant

Tasty Thai

Really enjoyed the food, which included tofu larb, Garlic Entree, Drunken Noodles, and Gyoza (all vegan). Everything well cooked well and super flavorful.

Pros: Tons of vegan options , Thai dishes that I have not been able to try, One of few vegan dumplings in GR!

Cons: Food took 20 extra minutes to prepare, Need to order side of rice with entree
